SUMMER NEWSLETTER

At the Annual General Meeting on 12th August 2009 I am pleased to report that Catherine Archbold has agreed to take up the position as league secretary. Her details are as follows: email: canddarchbold@yahoo.co.uk; address: Pine Garth, 63 Knox Lane ,Harrogate,HG1 3AW; phone 01423 506503

The main points that were agreed from the meeting are as follows :

Matches in the new season will continue to be played under the rally points scoring system on a rubber basis with the best of 3 games to 15.  Matches to be settled on a rubber basis and the rubber score would be accumulated to give league points.

Concern was expressed over conceded or walk-over matches and in all such situations in the future a report on the circumstances has to be forwarded to the match secretary for consideration by the committee as to the most relevant action regarding awarding of points or otherwise.

All teams will be automatically entered in the Cup Competition unless they informed the secretary or cup organiser, David Druett, that they did not wish to take part. Draw to be available at fixtures meeting on 17th September.

To encourage participation in the League Tournaments 2 evening dates have been fixed for this event, Tuesday, 12th January and Thursday, 14th January and clubs are asked to especially avoid arranging matches on these nights and preferably all that week.

In order to maintain good communications it is important that the league have all the relevant up-to-date contact information, e-mails, telephones and addresses as soon as possible.  Shirley, the match secretary, also asked that on the first few score cards returned that the captains or relevant contact e-mail/telephone numbers were given so that she could contact them easily if any queries arose.

Finally I wish you all a very successful season.

Graham Chilvers
